More often than not, people don't ask me why I use doTERRA.

They ask,
"That stuff is so expensive. Why don't you just buy __________?"

It's a fair question. In fact, it's exactly the kind of question I hope people ask. Because my answer has very little to do with price alone. It has everything to do with how I make decisions.

How I Learned to Make Important Decisions

As the mother of an adult handicapped son with a lifelong seizure disorder, I learned many years ago that I couldn't afford to make casual health and wellness decisions.

Over the years, I discovered that the best decisions came from mutual respect. Physicians brought medical education, training, and experience. I brought decades of living with Scott every single day. When we respected each other's expertise and learned from one another, we made better decisions together.

That experience changed the way I approach every important decision in my life. Whether I'm choosing a physician, an AI tool, a computer, or an essential oil company, I ask questions, I look for evidence, and I earn trust rather than giving it away.

Years later, when I became interested in essential oils, I realized I was approaching them the same way.

I Was Looking for a Company Whose Values Matched My Own

I wanted to know where the oils came from. I learned that different plants produce their highest quality essential oils in different parts of the world. Rather than growing everything in one location, doTERRA works with growers where each plant naturally thrives.

I wanted to know how they knew what was actually in the bottle. I discovered extensive testing procedures that verify identity, purity, and consistency. Every batch is tested and tracked through lot numbers, providing traceability from the field to the finished bottle.

I wanted to know whether the company continued to learn and improve. I found a company that invests in education, supports ongoing research, and works with scientists, researchers, healthcare professionals, growers, and educators around the world.

Most importantly, I wanted to know whether they could explain why they did what they did. They did. That mattered to me — not because I expected to agree with every answer, but because they were willing to answer the questions.

As I learned more, I realized that doTERRA's approach closely matched the standards I had developed over decades of advocating for Scott and making important decisions for him and my family. The answers continued to earn my respect.

Trust

When someone asks me why I continue to choose doTERRA, they often expect me to start talking about oils. I don't. I start by talking about trust.

If I'm going to recommend that someone invest their hard-earned money in anything, I want to know who I'm recommending, how they do business, and whether they're willing to explain and support what they say.

That's why I encourage people to spend a few minutes watching the introductory videos you'll find on my doTERRA page. Don't watch them because I told you to — watch them because they answer many of the same questions I asked before I ever purchased my first bottle. Then keep asking questions. That's how trust is built.

My Goal Has Never Been to Convince You to Think Like Me

So, if you're wondering whether you should use doTERRA, another brand, or no essential oils at all, my answer may surprise you.

I think you should learn. Read. Compare. Ask questions. Develop standards that make sense to you. Then make the decision you believe is right.

If, after doing that, you choose a different brand than I do, that's perfectly okay. My goal has never been to convince you to think like me. My goal is to help you learn how to think through a decision for yourself.
